Max Cullen turns 68 this year, he says he’s not slowing down, just going into reverse.
His latest exhibition of sculpture, prints and paintings is titled On Repeat.
Cullen’s theory being that there is nothing new in art, he says On Repeat is something of the echo of a solo exhibition he had in 1968 at Sydney’s Central Street Gallery.
This time with sculptures made mainly from pre-loved musical instruments and reworked silkscreen prints on canvas, and paintings he says are every bit as good as the work he did at the age of five when he was awarded 3 boiled lollies and given an early mark.
This exhibition opens at The Picture House Gallery, 80 Yass Street Gunning, on 19 April and runs for 6 weeks. Followed on Saturday 24 May, with Cullen performing his one man show “On The Wallaby - A Salute to Henry Lawson”; a play Cullen wrote and hopes to tour State wide.
